How many times have your non-running friends said to you: "Are you still jogging"?.

I ignor this comment nowadays, and my wife answers for me: "He doesn't, and never has 'Jogged'".

My definition of a 'Runner', is:

"A person who keeps fit, enters races, with an aim(not always achieved) of either improving his/her time, or achieving a particular goal with in a race. i.e The whole purpose of training, running racing etc, is to be able to measure your improvement(or in my case measure my decline as I get older.)

My definition of a 'Jogger' is:

"Somebody who runs for fitness, rarely(and probably never) enters a race, rarely(and probably never) keeps track of distance vs time, and if they don't feel like running today, they don't, as there is always tomorrow and they only do it for health and fitness.

I have a friend, who won't run with us, because she things that we are "Real Runners", where as she thinks she is a "Jogger", but her methods, aims and goals are similar to ours, and I tell her that she is belittling her efforts, as she achieves just the same as we do, ableit at a slower pace. Where as I have a friend who is way too fast for me to run with, but he never races, doesn't care about time or improvement, only his health, so I believe that he is a Jogger.

In Amit and Sushant's recent 5km run, I don't believe that either Amit or Sushant were jogging. It appears that Sushant's recover run pace is faster than Amit's.

So I don't believe that 'one man's jog is another man's sprint', as I believe that you can't run one day and jog the next, you actually just do a slower run.

So virtually everybody entered in the Mumbai Marathon(and shorter events) are RUNNERS, not JOGGERS, its just that some of us will be running(Possibly walking towards the end) at a slower rate than others.Bruce Hargreavesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3374347832591626385.post-22145857176616387682011-09-28T09:08:32.792+05:302011-09-28T09:08:32.792+05:30Excellent writeup & so true ...Excellent writeup & so true ...Rupal Shahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17285267522240106641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3374347832591626385.post-67583289884529012362011-09-28T06:43:54.012+05:302011-09-28T06:43:54.012+05:30True!
